Knife Care and Maintenance

Uniqueness of our Damascus Knives

We hand-forge ultra-tough Damascus knives that are extremely gorgeous and maintain strict quality control measures through the manufacturing process. All knives are coated with three different non-toxic food grade coatings that react seamlessly to create an ultra-durable barrier between the blade and the harsh elements the knife will come in contact with. However, the material properties of Damascus steel require responsibility and extra care from the user to maintain the knife in optimal condition.

Professional Tips and Tricks

(For step-by-step instructions please refer to the "Waziron Ultra-Care Guide" enclosed with the your knife.
  • Damascus Knives should never be dish washed.
  • After every use, make sure to thoroughly wash the knife with water and dish soap using a non-abrasive sponge (Using an abrasive cleaning material will eliminate the etched oxidation on the knife).
  • Completely dry the entire knife, including blade and handle with a lint-free cloth.
  • Immediately oil the blade with pure Mineral Oil or pure Camellia Oil or another non-toxic food grade lubricant (Avoid using olive oil or any other oil that can go rancid).
  • All knives handles made up of wood components should be oiled with mineral oil or pure tung oil.
  • Periodical polishing the blade after oiling will keep the blade looking beautiful as it will bring out the shine and gorgeous Damascus pattern.
  • Knives should never be stored in the leather sheath for extended periods of time.
  • Store knives in a cool, dry area after oiling and polishing. Knives can also be placed in the "Ultra-Elegant" box that comes with the knife.

Removing Rust

Mistakes happen...No matter how you ensure keeping the knife clean and dry, there may be limited instances where rust may develop. That's why as a general rule of thumb, it's an excellent habit to periodically glance at the blade for any minor rust spots before and after each use, and while the knife is in storage. If minor rust spots do develop, don't worry, follow the tips below.

Also, please note that there are numerous other remedies and home-made solutions on the web and the tips below are just some quick and easy solutions that we personally have had success with.
  • Tier 1 Removal: Use water, dish soap, and non-abrasive scrub to try to remove the rust.
  • Tier 2 Removal (Preferred): Use a metal polishing with nano-particles. Lightly go over entire blade with a polishing cloth to remove rust and create a uniform look at the same time.
  • Tier 3 Removal (Only If Necessary): Use a rust remover from local hardware store. This can dull the blade where it is applied; therefore, the entire blade will need to be polished.
